MEI LIN is the chef and owner of Nightshade, a restaurant located in the Arts District in Los Angeles. Mei has developed her culinary expertise while working at many revered restaurants over the years, but she credits most of her formal training to the time she spent at Wolfgang Puck’s Spago Vegas and Michael Voltaggio’s Ink in Los Angeles. As part of the opening team at Ink, she moved up the ranks to become a sous chef after only six months.
In 2015, Mei was the winner of “Top Chef” on Bravo TV. Before that, she won her episode in Esquire TV's Knife Fight and was selected as one of Eater’s Young Guns in 2014 and Zagat’s 30 Under 30 in 2015. She is a James Beard Award semi-finalist in the Best New Restaurant – Nightshade and Best Chef: California categories.
Mei has been collaborating with us and is our official Chef Ambassador for the Brill 3D Culinary Studio! At this year’s Flavor Summit at the CIA in Napa Valley, Mei Lin demonstrated ways to integrate edible 3D-printed objects into her culinary creations, in front of a live audience of chefs and culinary professionals.
